Publish date: 2024-07-19

With prices racing higher, it can be hard for new graduates to manage finances.

Mountain America Credit Union can help.

MACU has financial guides on how to make and manage a budget, how to get out of debt and how to develop good credit habits.

"A lot of kids are gonna make a mistake in life with their finances, but the one mistake we're gonna ask them not to make is not have a plan," said Andrea Dadsetan, branch manager. "Looking at if you want that career that's gonna be bigger and better what's your plan in your finances to make that happen? Whether it's you wanna buy a house, you wanna buy a car, is that job gonna be the thing that gets you there? and do you have a plan to get you there at the same time."

In addition to having the right financial knowledge, Andrea recommends planning for retirement early by stashing away just $25-50 a month on a retirement plan. Other tips? Start early, and those little contributions can payoff big.

You'll also want to watch out for scams and monitor your accounts for charges you didn't make.
