Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are shooting for the last schedule of Zoya Akhtar’s musical drama at a theatre based in South Mumbai. After shooting for Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure, Brahmastra, in Bulgaria with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt has returned on the sets of Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh. On March 27, the 25-year-old actress was back on the sets of the musical drama for the last schedule in Mumbai. Her co-star, Ranveer Singh had been filming his portions while she was away. Not even a shoulder injury and the excruciating pain could keep Ranveer away from shooting the film.
According to a daily, the Edward Theatre in South Mumbai has been converted into a hotel called Moonlight Hotel. Alia and Ranveer arrived at the theatre on Monday. The first floor of the rundown building adjacent to the theatre passed off as Alia’s home for the film. To play Zoya Ali, the glamorous actress had metamorphosed into a simple girl-next-door in a white kurta. According to onlookers, Ranveer as Jignesh also looked very much like an aam aadmi himself in a green shirt which didn’t look like it had come out of his personal flamboyant wardrobe. He strolled towards the entrance of the make-believe hotel, talking on the phone animatedly with his lady love who leaned over the balcony to look at him as he pottered around the ground floor, gazing up at her longingly. It was a scene straight out of Shakespeare’s popular play Romeo And Juliet. as Jignesh climbed up a bamboo structure to reach his Zoya. The actors shot throughout the day until late in the night.
This will be Alia and Ranveer’s first film together, although the two have worked on a series of ad campaigns before. Ranveer, who plays a boy from the slums in Gully Boy has gone through some major body transformation losing all the weight he had put on for his character, Allauddin Khilji in Padmavat.
Interestingly, the actor even shot for the film in Dharavi slums which is not at all an easy task. We can’t wait for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy to hit the theatres! More on: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt
